The speed of the motor can be controlled and brought down to zero even without power circuit switching. This is possible even after an acceleration in the opposite direction. Dynamic braking and regenerative braking are part of the characteristics of the motor which are especially good in applications when there are quick stops to be made. This eliminates the need for a mechanical brake.

Rare earth, ferrite or ceramic magnets can be used in these motors which have a lot of varieties of gear ratios available like 18:1 and 28:1.
